Bus:
a regular public bus service from Sumburgh Airport offers connection to Lerwick (bus route 6). The bus journey takes about 40 minutes from the airport. This service is provided by Leask & Sons (tel: +44 1595 693162). Service is limited on Saturday and Sundays; passengers should check bus schedules prior to arrival.
Taxi:
taxis can be found outside the terminal. The trip to the capital of Shetland, Lerwick, takes about 30 minutes. During the summer months, demand for taxis can be high and passengers are advised to book taxis ahead of time from the Information Desk at the airport.
Car:
Sumburgh Airport is located 25 miles from Lerwick. From the airport, take the A970 westward, passing Sandwick, then Hamnavoe and Scalloway to Lerwick. Numerous ferry services make it possible for drivers to reach even hard to reach areas of the island.
